Wednesday 29th April 2026 | The Studio, 7 Cannon Street, Birmingham, B2 5EP
Overview
Led by Prof. Jan Kovac, the summit convenes clinicians and allied healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with atrial fibrillation to:
- Update on the latest developments in the field of LAAC (Left Atrial Appendage Closure) and its current and emerging indications
- Discuss management, referral patterns, and post-intervention care
- Explore best practice, emerging evidence, and real-world experience with LAAC, particularly in light of the latest pivotal trials
With growing interest in stroke prevention strategies for patients unsuitable for long-term anticoagulation, there is a clear need for a dedicated setting that focuses on practical discussion, shared learning and multidisciplinary engagement.
Currently the UK is lagging behind somewhat in provision of this treatment and this meeting would serve as good impetus to facilitate further knowledge and dissemination of this therapy among multiple specialties.
Objectives
To update participants on current and emerging indications, management pathways, referral patterns, and post-procedural care for LAAC, incorporating best practice, emerging evidence, real-world experience, and insights from recent pivotal trials.
To provide a dedicated forum for practical discussion, shared learning, and multidisciplinary collaboration, supporting wider knowledge dissemination and uptake of LAAC therapy across specialties in the UK
Suitable for
Multidisciplinary teams, including:
- Electrophysiologists
- Interventional cardiologists
- Cardiothoracic surgeons
and other relevant specialists
