BSCI Spring Meeting and AGM, Glasgow 2014

The 2014 BSCI Spring Meeting and AGM was held in Glasgow at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. The meeting started with a session on the highlights of current Scottish Cardiovascular Imaging Research with presentations from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee. Educational sessions featured hypertension, the thoracic aorta, quality in cardiac CTCA, pulmonary arterial hypertension and the current status of coronary CTCA.

For the first time a video case report session was introduced which encouraged trainees to submit cases as a single video to highlight the dynamic three dimensional nature of imaging work. Congratulations to Dr Michelle Mak who won this session for her video LVOT stent following Transcatheter mitral valve repair. Congratulations also to Dr Michelle Williams who won the scientific abstract session with her abstract “Computed tomography myocardial perfusion imaging with fractional flow reserve and 15O-water positrion emission tomography in patients with suspected coronary artery disease. Thank you to all who delivered presentations and presented posters during the meeting.

For the first time this was a two day meeting and included an evening meal at the West Brewery in Glasgow. This highly successful event provided an opportunity to socialise with colleagues throughout the UK and will be repeated at future BSCI Spring Meetings.
