Further information:

  • This application is for those looking to reaccredit as level 2 in Cardiac CT who only report Cardiac CT in a teleradiology setting and therefore are not involved in the supervision and acquisition of Cardiac CT images.
  • If you report Cardiac CT as a teleradiologist but also undertake Cardiac CT in a hospital/clinic setting where you are directly or indirectly involved in supervision of scanning and image acquisition then you should apply for Level 2 Experienced instead.
  • Only individuals who already hold Level 2 Experienced (Clinical Practitioner) or Level 3 accreditation are eligible to apply for Level 2 Experienced Teleradiology Only. If you have only held Level 2 Initial previously (whether by the course-based or hospital-based route) you should apply for Level 2 Experienced. The reason for this is that as a society the BSCI/BSCCT only endorses doctors providing a teleradiology service for Cardiac CT if they are an established practitioner in Cardiac CT who has already completed high volumes of Cardiac CT within a hospital/clinic setting and has good experience in scan acquisition and image optimisation.
  • If you have previously held Level 2 or 3 accreditation in Cardiac CT with another society e.g. SCCT or EACVI, then application to Level 2 Experienced Teleradiology is only available if you have been accredited in Cardiac CT for 6 years or more.
  • Applications are not encouraged before 3 years have elapsed since Level 2 Experienced Accreditation.
  • A minimum of 300 contrast enhanced CT studies is required over 3 years which the applicant has post-processed and reported. As evidence for this you must submit a letter from your teleradiology manager or teleradiology audit lead on headed notepaper containing the following:
    • The number of cardiac CT cases you have reported over the 3 year period
    • A statement confirming that your reporting is of good quality
    • A statement confirming that you only report Cardiac CT as a teleradiologist and that you do not have access to supervising scans
  • Applicants must submit 25 anonymised but otherwise complete cardiac CT reports. These must include scan indications, date, scan technique, dose length product and findings. These reports should be submitted as a single document. Please note that a logbook of findings is NOT acceptable – we require actual reports. An example of what is required for these 25 cases is provided here
  • You should submit your prior Level 2 or 3 certificates with your application. Practitioners accredited in cardiovascular CT to at least Level 2 standard by other societies may also be considered eligible. In this circumstance, the applicant should provide full details and eligibility criteria of the accrediting body. Applicants must still complete all relevant sections of the online application.
  • Evidence of 20 hours Category 1 CPD must be submitted. These must have been acquired within 36 months of the application date.
  • All CPD must be pertinent to cardiovascular CT, demonstrably apply to the content areas above and be supported by formal certificates stating the number of CPD hours granted for the activity.
  • If the submitted CPD certificates relate to general or multi-stream meetings, the onus is on the applicant to detail the lectures and modules attended relevant to this application. The applicant will then be credited an appropriate proportion of the CPD value of the meeting certificate.
