The BSCI/BSCCT organises accreditation for cardiac CT level 1 (basic), level 2 (independent practitioner), and level 3 (advanced).
Please note that all BSCI/BSCCT accreditation (levels 1, 2 or 3) is only available to doctors who are consultants or residents (or specialty doctors at an equivalent level) in Radiology, Cardiology or Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Please read the application criteria before applying online. These can be found via the tabs at the top of this page. Applications by email or post will no longer be accepted.
Please make sure before you apply that you meet the criteria for the level of accreditation you are applying for. Should you have to withdraw your application for any reason, including not meeting the criteria in full, then you will be issued a refund less an administration fee of £35.
Please note that ‘Level 2 Clinical Practitioner’ has been renamed ‘Level 2 Experienced’ as of 2026 (the requirements for this level remain unchanged). This is to reflect the fact that those who have achieved this level have had significant real-world experience in cardiac CT.
BSCI/BSCCT Level 3 accreditation is reserved only for those who not only have an ongoing commitment to clinical cardiac CT delivery but also demonstrate significant contribution to the field of cardiac CT through research, teaching or cardiac CT society leadership.
Accreditation lasts for 3 years after which you will need to apply for re-accreditation. For most applicants having held either Level 2 Initial or Level 2 Experienced (Clinical Practitioner), reaccreditation will be as Level 2 Experienced. The re-accreditation process is the same as the initial application process including submission of 25 CT reports and evidence of CPD.

Please note that accreditation is voluntary rather than mandatory and that it is not recognised by the GMC as a formal qualification.
