Consultant Radiologist
Royal Bournemouth Hospital
Castle Lane
East Bournemouth BH7 7DW

I was appointed as a consultant radiologist at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in 2000.1 set up one of the first cardiac CT services in the country in 2003 and set up a cardiac MRI service in 2005. The Royal Bournemouth Hospital is now one of the largest 'general hospital' cardiac CT and MRI units in the country, providing a regional service currently scanning over 1200 cardiac CT and over 1200 cardiac MRI patients per year. I have been involved heavily in teaching since my appointment. I am responsible for a post CCT cardiac radiology fellow and I also run a 4 month cardiac radiology rotation for year 4 radiology registrars as part of the Wessex training scheme. I am also involved in teaching of cardiac CT and MRI to a cardiac imaging fellow and to radiology and cardiology registrars. I also host numerous informal visits from radiologists and cardiologists wishing to increase their experience of cardiac CT and MRI.I am very interested in the technical developments of CT and MRI and in conjunction with Toshiba and Siemens I have been heavily involved in developing software and hardware to make cardiac scanning easier, faster and more robust.
