Consultant Radiologist, Glasgow Royal Infirmary
Honorary Associate Professor, University of Glasgow

I first became involved with cardiac MRI during training in Aberdeen in 1993 training further in CMR techniques as visiting Fellow at Harvard University, Boston in 1994. Appointed consultant Radiologist at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 1997 I have clinical expertise and active research interests in cardiovascular imaging instituting clinical cardiac MRI in 1998 and cardiac CTA in 2004. My particular interests are in cardiac MRI, cardiac CTA, renovascular imaging, lower limb MRA, carotid MRA and venous imaging. I have an interest in all aspects of MRI contrast agents, including adverse events and risk management. I am the current Chair for Contrast Procurement in Scotland & Northern Ireland and involved with the RCR Standards for Intravascular Contrast Administration to Adult Patients.

I have been involved in promoting cardiovascular imaging at all levels in the UK and internationally including working with ECR and the MRAngio Working Group (planned for Glasgow 2018).

I became involved with the society in 2005 (when known as the British Society of Cardiac Radiology) and was a keen proponent of the name change to make us more inclusive. I am Level 3 accredited in both Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI and while recognising that our major current focus is cardiovascular CT I am keen that we remain a multimodality society. In my position as Treasurer we have successfully negotiated the transition of the society to formal charity status dealing with the Charity Commission while liaising with the society‚Äôs accountant to provide a stable financial footing for future growth.
