As President of the BSCI/BSCCT I will strive to strengthen the voice of the BSCI in maximising the representation of cardiac radiology in all areas pertinent to the specialty; in particular at the Imaging Council and within the other specialist societies. This is particularly acute with regards to developing the relationship with the BSCMR, as many of our members are active and busy CMR practitioners, and appropriate and timely representation of this field must involve both societies. I will also aim to ensure that the BSCI, as a SIG of the RCR and an affiliated group of the BCS, is involved in both RCR and RCP activities ensures we remain appropriately represented in all facets of cardiovascular imaging on a National scale.

In addition to the broad medico-political agenda, I will continue to develop the work and voice of the BSCCT as the representative national society for this evolving field. In particular I will look to build on the standards document for cardiovascular CT, further developing the radiation dose reference levels in conjunction with appropriate National bodies such as NHS England, Public Health England and the Care Quality Commission. My current and previous experience of working with NHS England on a Clinical Reference Group and prior work with the Healthcare Commission will be valuable taking this forward.

I will look to reduce the tenure of the Presidency from 3 year to two, to allow a greater proportion of Executive members the opportunity to stand, and evolve the Vice-Presidency role into a President-Elect position to allow a more seamless transition of the leadership of the Society. I will also look to continue to build relationships with the SCCT, ASCI and ESCR to maximise the benefits to our members, in particular looking to develop our support to multi-site research activity and continue to offer world-class CPD in cardiovascular imaging at competitive rates.
