Video case reports

The "Video case reports" are descriptive videos that highlight interesting and educational aspects of cardiovascular imaging cases. These cases are designed to showcase the three dimensional nature of cardiovascular imaging modalities.

Some of these cases have been presented at previous BSCI meetings. Click here for a list of previous winners of the BSCI Video Case reports session.

Through the Heart

Through the heart still image

Computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA) is a rapid, non invasive diagnostic test that is capable of assessing the coronary arteries with excellent diagnostic accuracy as compared to invasive coronary angiography. In addition, CTCA can assess the constituents of atherosclerotic plaque, including the presence of calcification and high risk features such as lipid rich plaque. This video shows a “fly-through” view of a coronary artery. The lumen of the coronary artery can be seen with the view that a blood vessel travelling through it would have. Although these sort of images cannot currently be used to make a diagnosis, this video highlights the vast improvements in scanning and post-processing over the past few years. Who knows what might be possible in the future.
